The manufacturer of generators of Internaco has contracts with Technip or Samsung. It is manufacturing equipment for Bahrain and United Arab Emirates

Published at Expansión, 25 February 2020. Benza Energy will exceed €11 million in sales by the end of the year, which are record sales for the company manufacturing special generator sets. Its portfolio of closed projects will mean a qualitative and quantitative leap as among its clients there begin to be foreign ‘specialists’ –companies that are in charge of the design, supply and construction of any project. Among the new clients are French company Technip or Korean company Samsung, although Técnicas Reunidas and TSK continue to be the most relevant.

The managing director of Internaco, Juan Ferro, emphasises that these are large-scale projects associated to energy activities. Throughout this year, work will be conducted on the engineering and manufacturing of three generators, two of them for Técnicas Reunidas.  Its generators will supply power in the event of an emergency or a shutdown at the combined power plant at Hamriyah, in the emirate of Sharjaj, owned by Sharjaj Electricity and Water Authority; on the expansion of the Pulau Ayer Chawan Oil Refinery of ExxonMobil, at Island Jurong, in Singapore –one of the 10 largest in the world –; and the construction and implementation of the modernization programme of Bapco refinery in Bahrain, of the Bahrain Petroleum Company, currently under way. Benza Energía has also projects in Jamaica, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Mexico, Poland and Togo.

The manufacturing of generator sets will be one of the divisions that will contribute the most to the growth of the Internaco Group in 2020, when consolidated turnover is expected to reach €95 million with an EBITDA of 8 million (an increase of 13% and 23% respectively). The contracts closed so far mean that Benza Energy will double its 2019 sales (in excess of €5 million). Ferro notes that this manufacturing and energy division also positively contributes to the EBITDA of the group in spite of the fact that these are long-term projects that require guarantees and sureties.

The management does not envisage any investment in this business unit but they have made changes to its headquarters as a consequence of the adding of new lines of business such as the hardware division with the purchase of Areán in 2018; the landing in Morocco as exclusive distributors of Husqvarna and its golf and professional irrigation projects. Currently, an extension of the receiving and dispatching area is under way with an investment of at least €500,000.

Wider range of products in waste equipment

Internaco Servicios y Medio Ambiente, the subsidiary of the group specialised in machinery for waste management, has added the brands Ecodiger,  POR and WLP.

The first of these brands completes its range of equipment for compacting and dehydrating organic waste; the second brand is specialised in wood, metal, and textile waste and the third brand is specialised in collecting airborne dust.
