Ordes, 21 April 2022.- Husqvarna continues its innovation within smart gardening and now launches virtual zone control for its robotic lawn mower Automower®. The new technology named Automower® Intelligent Mapping (AIM), enables Automower® to create a virtual map of the lawn, in order to customize zones without using boundary wires. By allowing users to create stay-out-zones and define cutting schedules and cutting lengths for each zone, the technology opens up for garden owners to shape their lawn-care to perfection, with less effort. Gardeners can allow grass and wildflowers to grow at chosen areas, adapt mowing when redesigning the garden such as when sowing new grass as well as adjust settings for shaded areas of the lawn that need to be mowed less often – just by a tap in the Automower® Connect app.
The AIM Technology allows Automower® to collect data regarding its progress and challenges, while creating a virtual map of the garden. The mapping system also provides increased control of Automower®, as the virtual map will enable owners to see the position of Automower® at all times, as well as the position of the boundary wires defining the total work area. Through the mapping system, owners will be able to do on-the-go adjustments using the Automower® Connect app.
The AIM Technology represents the next generation zone control, with a fully virtual set-up. Another new zone control solution for Automower® is Area Switch, a simple hardware device that can be used to shortcut the boundary wire, effectively creating stay out zones. Other available solutions include Temporary Fence, creating stay-out zones through a physical fence of steel arches, and can be used to protect parts of the lawn from being mowed by Automower® on occasions such as when the spring flowers are blooming or when you have a spot with freshly sown grass.
