Award-winning municipalities
In the case of Allariz, the jury particularly appreciated the investment made by the municipal authorities on the maintenance of green spaces in the context of a singularly complex year, as well the offer of activities aimed at tourists focused on the environment and sustainability, composting activities as well as a number of projects in the pipeline such a children’s playground or a 4-hectare business park.
In Chantada, the panel was impressed with the richness of its natural heritage and landscapes as well as with the use and maintenance of the seasonal plants in both urban areas and riverside pathways. They also assessed very positively its water management, the use of dry gardening techniques, composting, an of the fact that locally grown timber was used for making the urban furniture in green areas, among other initiatives.
