The chain fast expanding, now with nine stores in Spain
Badajoz, 21 July 2021- The hardware chain store El Sabio is consolidating its plans for expansion and increasing its presence in Extremadura with the opening of “El Sabio Antonio Mena”. The new store is located in Valdivia, in the town of Villanueva de la Serena, and is the second store of its kind to be opened in the region – after the inauguration of “El Sabio Ferrex” on 17 May – and the ninth of the firm’s stored in Spain.
With a commercial footprint of 660 m2, “El Sabio Antonio Mena” has made a strong impact on the town by breaking away from the traditional concept of hardware stores and reflecting the perfect “El Sabio” model, where innovation and tradition go hand in hand. This is a modern store that still preserves the essence of the traditional hardware store, offering customers approachable and specialised attention.
The store’s owner, Antonio Mena, is looking forward to this new professional adventure with “great positivity”, with the help of his team, the knowledgeable – sabios – Eduardo, Vicente and Gabriel. He explains how the store’s strong points include an excellent location at the entrance to the town of Valdivia and very close to the N-430 main road from Badajoz to Palencia, visible to thousands of vehicles every day. “El Sabio Antonio Mena”, has a wide range of products, but specialises in farm machinery.
The chain has reached the region of Extremadura just two months after the opening of “El Sabio Ferrex”, on 17 May in Zafra. The broad product range at the store includes all customers may need for the farming sector, particularly olive-growing and vineyards.

Unstoppable growth
El Sabio started out in 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis, with its first physical stores in A Coruña. Today the business has expanded into six of Spain’s autonomous communities: Galicia, Asturias, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, Madrid and Aragón with a total of nine stores: Agro-silva and A Botica do Agro (A Coruña), Saínza (Ourense), Roces Belón (Langreo, Asturias), Ferrex and Antonio Mena (Badajoz), Cherjos (Puebla de Almoradiel, Toledo), Getafe (Getafe, Madrid) and Mascoticas (Zaragoza).
This expansion process is part of a new business strategy driven by the Galician group Internaco, which is aiming to reinforce the traditional hardware store model by transforming these businesses into new shopping experiences and setting up a solid network of stores with a local focus in order to compete strongly on the 21st century market, so saturated with the depersonalisation of multinational firms.
As the chain continues to expand its network of physical stores, El Sabio also offers all the expertise of local professionals to its clients via its website: www.elsabio.eu
Personalised recommendations attention are the distinguishing features of the brand, but above all, a firm bet on the local, rather than the global approach. “At the moment the consumer feels lost, because they either can’t find what they are looking for, they don’t know exactly what they need or they find it difficult to understand how to use a product properly,” says the firm, which stands out for offering a new, single-channel shopping experience, with its own brands; Orework for manual machines and Kuril for engine-operated equipment, as well as other top-level brands.
